Meet Jordan

A graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia, Jordan is a watercolor artist with a passion for portraits and abstracts. She has been creating artwork since childhood and received honors in her art classes during high school. One of her greatest inspirations came from her aunt, Marie Mallak, who was a local and award winning Arizona artist.  During her first watercolor class, one of the assignments was a portrait. Instantly, she knew this was her life work. Jordan loved the fluid surprises of watercolor and fell in love with painting faces.  Watercolor portraiture was further embedded in her heart after transformative workshops with Ted Nuttall. Jordan resides in Scottsdale, Arizona with her husband and son.

Jordan has had numerous paintings accepted into juried exhibitions, with many being award winners. Her painting, “Wisdom Whispers”, was chosen as a winner of the current (July) publication of Splash 24 Magazine-Special Issue: The Best of Watercolor. 

Artist Statement

I am fascinated with faces, especially the exquisite eloquence of eyes and hands.  My paintings are about “seeing” and being “seen”. When we allow ourselves to truly “see,” rather than simply “look at” someone; we are privileged to catch a glimpse of the real person shining through their eyes. In seeing others, we see ourselves.  The same happens while viewing paintings of animals and abstracts.  When fully imbibing a captivating work of art, we are invited to uncover a deeper understanding of life.
